Simplify. Scale. Automate.
Ardexa's Unified Control Solution offers owner-operators a proven and cost-effective path to centralise, streamline and optimise remote power plant and asset control across heterogenous renewable energy portfolios.
INCREASING MARKET VOLATILITY
Grid curtailment caused by intermittent over-supply, the fluctuating day-ahead market, negative price events, increasing real-time price volatility, and the resulting adoption of battery energy storage systems have all led to skyrocketing control events, resulting in penalties and revenue losses for those that do not adapt.
POWER PLANT CONTROL DIVERSITY
Local plant control decisions were typically made early in the life cycle by someone other than the current owner-operator. Large portfolio operators face many technical challenges and inefficiencies resulting from regular interaction with a variety of remote plant control systems.
HYPER-GROWTH CHALLENGE
Rapidly scaling renewable energy production is vital to achieving net-zero carbon emissions and mitigating the most devastating impacts of climate change. But hyper-growth is thwarted by increasing operational complexity and a chronically insufficient labor pool.
THE PITFALLS TO LEGACY SCADA SOLUTIONS
High Costs: Legacy SCADA systems are expensive to implement, upgrade and maintain due to their proprietary nature.
Inflexibility: Changes in configuration, customization, or integration with new equipment or software are time-consuming and require proprietary expertise.
Inaccessible Data: Extracting data for cross-functional insights is cumbersome. Dated protocols and storage methods are incompatible with Cloud and SaaS platforms.
Poor Cybersecurity: Traditional SCADA systems were designed before modern cybersecurity threats, leaving them vulnerable due to insufficient encryption, authentication, and security features.
OTHER CONTROL OFFERINGS
POWER PLANT CONTROLLER (PPC)
For plants with the need to meet grid requirements to control voltage, frequency and power factor, the Ardexa PPC is a rapidly deployable, cost-effective and secure by design solution. The remotely installed and configurable Ardexa PPC is installed on an existing or dedicated Remote Node to manage and optimize the performance of the PV power plant. It ensures real-time monitoring, control, and grid compliance worldwide by managing power generation, voltage, frequency, and reactive power output.
Certified for installation on a broad range of general-purpose Linux-compatible industrial computers, the Ardexa PPC leverages the end-to-end security and reliability of the Digital Control Platform to deliver:
Grid Compliance - It provides dynamic adjustments to ensure the plant meets grid code requirements, handling voltage, frequency, and power factor regulation with a grid compliant solution.
Active and Reactive Power Control - The PPC balances power output and ensures optimal reactive power support based on real-time grid conditions.
Curtailment and Scheduling - The PPC supports power curtailment, ramp rate control, and optimized dispatch scheduling.
GRID INTEGRATION
In response to concerns about grid stability and reliability in the wake of increased variable generation, congestion and over-production, grid operators are increasingly requiring renewable power plants to transmit real-time telemetry to the grid and independently respond to dispatch signals from the grid.
Thanks to the power and flexibility of our multipurpose Remote Node, Ardexa has developed a rapidly deployable and cost-effective solution for meeting these requirements in compliance with grid codes.
Our Grid Integration offering accepts and relays signals from the grid to the PPC and transmits requisite telemetry in compliance with local grid codes.
